Third Gear Ventures LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Third Gear Shop (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
Account information: Name, email address, shop name, and role when you create an account.
Shop data: Job records, customer information, vehicle details, parts inventory, invoices, technician assignments, and time tracking data that you enter into the Service.
Usage data: Browser type, device information, IP address, pages visited, and features used. This data is collected automatically to improve the Service.
Payment information: Billing details are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
We use your information to: (a) provide, maintain, and improve the Service; (b) process transactions and send billing notifications; (c) respond to support requests; (d) send product updates and announcements (you may opt out); (e) detect and prevent fraud or abuse; (f) comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information or shop data to third parties. We may share information with:
Service providers: Hosting and traffic analytics (Vercel), database (Supabase), payment processing (Stripe), website analytics (Google Analytics 4), and email delivery services that help us operate the Service. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data. Google processes analytics data under Google's Data Processing Terms.
Legal requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or legal process.
Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
Your customers' information (names, phone numbers, vehicle details) that you enter into the Service is your data. We process it on your behalf to provide the Service. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from your customers for storing their information in the Service.
When you share a job status link with a customer, only the following information is visible: shop name, vehicle year/make/model, current job status, and last updated timestamp. No customer personal data, pricing, or technician information is exposed through the portal.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, row-level security policies, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your account and shop data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we retain data for 30 days to allow recovery, after which it is permanently deleted. Aggregate usage statistics that identify no one, such as counts of page views, may be kept indefinitely. Website analytics data held by Google is subject to that property's own retention setting rather than being kept indefinitely by us.
You have the right to: (a) access your data through the Service or by contacting us; (b) correct inaccurate data; (c) export your data; (d) delete your account and associated data; (e) opt out of marketing communications. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
The only cookies this site sets are the two Google Analytics cookies described below, and those are not set at all if you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. If you sign in, your session is kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, and it is there so that you stay signed in. Alongside it we keep your own settings, such as your theme choice and whether you have dismissed a prompt. Signing out and clearing your browser data removes all of it. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run ads, and we do not link analytics to any advertising product.
Vercel Web Analytics measures page views and visitor counts. It sets no cookies and does not track visitors across sites.
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages people find useful. It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which expire after up to two years, and sends Google a randomly generated identifier for your browser, the page address, the referring address, your device and browser type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Signals and Google Ads linking are switched off, so this data is not used for advertising or combined across sites.
We strip identifying and access-granting values out of page addresses before they are sent. Share links such as a public build showcase or a job status link are reported in a generic form, so the link itself is never transmitted to an analytics provider.
If you arrive from a link that carries campaign tags, we hold that source in memory for the length of your visit so we can tell which channels bring people here. It is written to your browser only if you go on to start creating an account, and it is cleared when you close the tab. Reading the site and leaving stores nothing.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, analytics storage is switched off. No analytics cookies are set and no identifier is stored on your device. We do not ask you to opt in, because we would rather not run a consent banner, so the setting is simply off and there is nothing for you to accept. Anywhere else, you can opt out with your browser's cookie controls or with Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google's handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
